COLORADO WHISKEY FEATURE

LAWS WHISKEY HOUSE
Denver, Colorado

The soulful, rich flavors of our no-compromise whiskey begin with our use of only heirloom and heritage grains. Modern agricultural has no interest in these low-yield, finicky grains, yet we could not create the singular profile of each Laws Whiskey without them. We are dependent on the two family-owned farms – the Cody’s in the San Luis Valley and the Ohnmacht’s out on Colorado’s eastern plains – willing to cultivate these specialized grains for us.

Laws Four Grain Straight Bourbon
Sale $54.99 Reg. $58.99
After two Colorado family farms grow our heirloom varietals of wheat, barley and rye, our labor-intensive cooking technique brings each grain’s individual character to life, while open-air sour mash adds soulful complexity. After three years in 53-gallon charred oak barrels, influenced by our high-altitude climate, an entirely novel bourbon unfolds.

Laws Bonded 6yr Four Grain Straight Bourbon
Sale $74.99 Reg. $79.99
This special offering of our Four Grain is the first bonded bourbon in Colorado history. True to the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897, this bourbon is at least 4 years old, a product of a single season and a single distiller, and has been aged entirely in our federally bonded rickhouse.

Laws San Luis Valley Bonded Straight Rye Whiskey
Sale $74.99 Reg. $79.99
The first rye whiskey to be Bottled in Bond in Colorado history, it hails from the San Luis Valley rye grain of a single season, shaped by us as the single distiller, then aged in our federally bonded rickhouse for at least four years.

Laws Henry Road Bonded Straight Malt Whiskey
Sale $74.99
 Reg. $79.99
The barley in our Malt Whiskey was literally kept from extinction. While commercial farmers found it too low yield, Wayne Cody found its unstripped flavor too glorious to let go. Today, his sons, in a field alongside Henry Road, continue to grow, as well as malt, this barley for us.

BRECKENRIDGE DISTILLERY
Breckenridge, Colorado

Since coming online in 2008 and releasing its first vodka and bourbon three years later, Breckenridge Distillery has quickly become an award-winning producer of fine spirits, being designated one of the top three bourbons in the U.S. How it all came to be, however, stems from a mix of just the right ingredients, a hint of luck and a deep love for quality whiskey.

Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey
Sale $42.99 Reg. $46.99
Our award-winning, high-rye Bourbon Whiskey is aged for a minimum of three years, in charred, new American oak barrels, and blended to reveal the unique qualities of the Bourbon Whiskey. Deep, honey-amber hue with pronounced aromas of butterscotch, candied orange and apple; dry cacao and brown sugar envelop the tongue as the spirit lingers with notes of vanilla and white pepper.

Breckenridge Port Cask Finished Bourbon Whiskey
Sale $62.99 Reg. $67.99
Our award-winning Bourbon Whiskey gets some final grooming in 59 gallon Tawny Port casks, adding aroma and flavor of sultana raisin and maple syrup, which round out and soften the naturally spicy finish. Thanks to the superior Tawny Port casks, each batch flaunts a unique expression.

WINE OF THE WEEK

Rodney Strong
Chalk Hill
Chardonnay
2018
$15.99
reg.$18.99

Our 2018 Chalk Hill Chardonnay boasts toasty vanilla and spice due to time spent in seasoned French oak barrels during fermentation. During the 11 months of barrel aging, we regularly stirred the lees in barrel, which imparts an elegant fullness and creamy texture on the palate. In the glass, the wine is both creamy and crisp, with flavors of golden pear, vanilla, Meyer lemon and a hint of minerality on the long finish. Enjoy over the next one to three years with soft cheeses, fresh crab or roasted pork loin.

HALLECK VINEYARD

BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH WINE

This is a family journey. We welcome you to join us. We planted the Halleck Vineyard in 1993, the first in the hills of Sebastopol, western Sonoma County. Intended as a college fund for our sons, in 2002, we earned #1 Pinot in the United States.
In 2019, Halleck Vineyard was again judged “BEST OF CLASS” in the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition, the largest in North America.  Sunset Magazine anointed our Sauvignon Blanc “BEST OF CLASS” in the United States, and the California State Fair judged our Dry Gewurztraminer #1 White Wine in California.
We’re grateful for the recognition, but it doesn’t mean you’ll like our wines. We invite you to try them. We invite you into our community. We hope to make the world better by sharing our wines and using this platform to support noble causes across the planet.

Whites

Halleck Vineyard
Sobre Vista Vineyard
Chardonnay
Sonoma Mountain
2020
$62.99

Winery Notes
This extraordinary Chardonnay from Sobre Vista Vineyard in Sonoma Mountain AVA offers more than a hat-tip to its sister in the north of Burgundy, Chablis. Like a Premier or Gran Cru, it is medium-bodied, bright with crisp acidity and very low alcohol, having been picked before the fires of 2020, thus avoiding any contact with smoke. It is complex showing notes of apple, pear and citrus; it displays mineral characteristics with a hint of salinity on the back of the palate, for a mouth watering complement to seafood or chicken. There is none of the big oaky butteriness one expects from California Chardonnay. This wine has been lightly barreled to fill out the mouthfeel, but has avoided the pitfalls of a typical oaky wine. If you love a White Burgundy, this is a California Chardonnay for you.

Halleck Vineyard
Calandrelli Vineyard
Dry Gewurztraminer
Russian River Valley
2019
$52.99

Winery Notes
This Dry Gewurztraminer’s expressive nose is full of ripe lychee, rose petals and a hint of vanilla. There are bright gentle acids that blend with minerality on the midpalate, offering flavors of lychee, rose petals, and a touch of floral and ginger with a lingering cleansing finish of fine spice. Absolutely stunning with Indian curry, ceviche, a fine chicken liver pate, roasted chestnuts, or Thanksgiving turkey.

Reds

Halleck Vineyard
Three Sons Cuvee
Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley
2017
$56.99

Winery Notes
The garnet color is jewel-like in its transparency, color and brilliance. The wine leads with aromas of cherries, including a hint of clove, cinnamon, pepper. The wine delivers with a full frontal assault of delicious fruit, yet still manages to be delicate and refined. The red fruit combines with the spice, then delivers an earthiness, reminiscent of a forest floor, on the mid palate that fills the mouth. There’s long lingering finish of both black and white pepper, trailing with fruit notes.

Halleck Vineyard
Clone 828
Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast
2018
$76.99

Winery Notes
This wine has a bright nose of fresh cranberry, red raspberry and strawberry mixed with spice notes of white pepper and earthen floor. The brightness carries through to the palate, filled with flavors of pomegranate mixed with a panoply of red fruits, spices, white pepper with a subtle rich minerality. The mouth-feel integrates earthiness with the fresh fruit and fine tannins in the mid palate. The finish is long and rich, revealing silky tannins combined with emerging cherry, gentle minerality, lustrous acidity and white pepper. Tasting Notes from the 2017 Vintage. No Tasting Notes yet on the 2018 Vintage.

Winery Notes

Halleck Vineyard
Hillside Cuvee
Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast
2017
$56.99

Winery Notes
Hillside Cuvee is bright, light and glimmers in translucent rubies. The nose hints of earthiness reminiscent of a fine Burgundy, oftimes described in French as sauvage or animal. But it also carries bright aromas of fresh cranberry, red raspberry and strawberry mixed with spice notes of white pepper and earthen floor. On the palate, it leads with red fruits like pomegranate and fresh cranberry, with hints of raspberry. The brightness carries through, filled with flavors of pomegranate mixed with a panoply of red fruits, spices, white pepper with a subtle rich minerality. The mouth-feel integrates earthiness with the fresh fruit and fine tannins in the mid palate. The finish is long and rich, revealing silky tannins combined with emerging cherry, gentle minerality, lustrous acidity and white pepper. Rich, elegant, and complex, it finishes in white pepper, lingering for many minutes.

WHISKEY FEATURE

PINHOOK WHISKEY
Crestwood, Kentucky

Each year, Pinhook releases a new vintage of bourbons and ryes. Every expression is the best representation of our barrels at that moment in time, and dedicated to a promising young thoroughbred. Through a combination of careful barrel selection, blending in small batches, and meticulous proofing, each Pinhook vintage has a personality as unique as the horse on the label. Breaking with the standard approach to American whiskey, where barrels are blended to replicate an established flavor profile at a fixed proof every time, Pinhook sees each set of barrels as a new crop, shaped by the natural variations in the ingredients and the elements. Working in small batches, we craft each vintage to express the best whiskey rather than the same whiskey, and set the proof to optimize the attributes of that year’s crop.

Perbacco
Nebbiolo
Langhe
2018
$24.99 reg.$26.99

Fondly known to many as a “baby Barolo”, Perbacco is always 100% Nebbiolo sourced from some of the fifteen different Grand Cru vineyards in Barolo. Recently the winery started using a small portion of grapes from its vineyards in Barbaresco as part of the blend as well. Each Cru is vinified separately, aged for two years in oak (as with the Barolo) and then a selection is made for expression of the vintage and then blended together. An incredible value, Perbacco is intended to show the full complexity of the zone and the Nebbiolo varietal to novice and seasoned wine lovers alike.

This is certainly an intensely structured wine, but its name seems rather excessive for what are balanced fruit and juicy tannins. Harvest Haul
Wet-hopped Pale Ale
$15.99
4pk 16oz can
SOLD OUT!

Brewer’s Notes:
We used nearly 400 lbs of ultra fresh whole cone Citra, Cascade, Mosaic, and Simcoe on this limited batch of our first ever Wet-Hopped Pale Ale, Harvest Haul.

Fresh Hops are processed the day of harvesting to maintain more flavor and aroma than normal pelletized hops. This can only be done once per year – on harvest day – which means we can only brew this once per year! We’re picking up notes of melon, Juicyfruit gum, bright dankness, sweet orange peel, ripe papaya, and mango.

A typical IPA would have 2lbs per barrel of pellet hops, but knowing how special these whole cone hops were, we opted to use 12 lbs per barrel! If you’re wondering how we had space in our kettle for these hops – we didn’t! Unlike a normal hot-side hop addition, we had to use our mash tun!
This was a fun, special project that took a lot of coordination, planning and cooperation between our production team and our hop supplier.

JEPTHA CREED FEATURE

Jeptha Creed Distillery
Shelbyville, Kentucky

Jeptha Creed Distillery uses old fashioned methods to meet today’s demanding modern tastes. We use only the finest ingredients, locally grown and sourced to ensure our products meet the highest expectations for quality and flavor. You could say we’re history in the making, but really we’re making old fashion new. Owned and operated by dynamic mother-and-daughter duo Joyce and Autumn Nethery, Jeptha Creed sits on 64 acres of farmland, where we grow the Bloody Butcher Corn we use for all of our products. One of the things we’re most proud of here at Jeptha Creed is our commitment to the ground to glass concept. Whenever we can, we grow the ingredients that we use in our spirits.

Jeptha Creed Straight Kentucky Bourbon
$49.99
Many distilleries put the focus on the wheat or rye components of their mash bill, but since bourbon is always at least 51% corn, the Netherys wanted to be thoughtful about selecting their corn. The idea of using an heirloom varietal came from Joyce, who had been experimenting with heirloom vegetables in her own garden. As a test, they grew one field of Bloody Butcher corn, and one field of non-GMO yellow corn. When fall came and the corn ripened, they noticed an intriguing behavior from the local wildlife: animals would walk through the yellow corn fields to reach the Bloody Butcher corn, eating the crimson kernels and sleeping among the yellow. The Netherys knew they had made a key discovery for the future of Jeptha Creed.

Jeptha Creed Kentucky Original Vodka
$26.99
Crafted from Heirloom Bloody Butcher corn and distilled for maximum purity of flavor, our Original Vodka is so smooth, George Clooney could take lessons. Sit back and sip it neat or blend it into a custom cocktail.

Brunello di Montalcino
2016
$58.99 Reg. $63.99
Winery Notes
Balsamic aromas of wild thyme, juniper, eucalyptus and pine lead off, with cherry and plum fruit at the core. There’s latent energy that’s restrained for now by the grip of tannins, yet this is lithe and nimble despite the solid structure.

Tenute Silvio Nardi

Brunello di Montalcino
2015
$54.99 Reg. $74.99
Winery Notes
Beautifully polished and bright, the Tenute Silvio Nardi 2015 Brunello di Montalcino offers a textbook rendition from this slightly warm vintage. The wine sketches out classic lines with a generous and full array of Sangiovese aromas. These range from wild fruit and dried cherry to tilled earth, cola and balsam herb. There’s a pretty note of blue flower or lilac as well for added elegance. The finish is smooth with integrated tannins and balanced acidity. All the elements work harmoniously here and would be nicely accentuated by a spezzatino di maiale, or pork shoulder slow-cooked with tomato, shallots, red wine and peas.

Col D’Orcia

Rosso di Montalcino
2016

Barbaresco Riserva
2010
$36.99 Reg. $39.99
Winery Notes
Dark plums, cherry liqueur and lots of cinnamon and spices, but also a fresher, herbal thread with heather and bracken. Full-bodied and dense on the palate, which frames layers of plush red fruit against very muscular tannins. Long and very chewy on the finish.

Barbera D’ Alba
2016
$34.99
 Reg. $39.99
Winery Notes
Color: deep, with intense shades of ruby-red enhanced by purplish hues. Nose: excellent, layered and complex intensity and finesse, with aromas ranging from cocoa to toasted coffee to spices (juniper berries) and hints of cherry and plum. Taste: great power showing on entry, with an alcoholic content that ensures initial smoothness immediately balanced out by an acidity which softens the fruity pulp. The finish is long and fresh, providing a nice balance between the fruit and the oak. Pairings: with its alcohol content and good acidity, it is recommended with all slow-cooked meat dishes, such as pork loin, stewed veal shank or beef stewed in red wine.

Pelissero
Munfrina

Dolcetto D’Alba
2017
$19.99 Reg. $24.99
Winery Notes
The visual impact is a beautiful purple red very bright. The olfactory analysis reminds of fruit and typical aromas, including red cherry. The taste is a very nice balance among tannins, acidity and alcohol, so that the wine is sapid and pleasant. The aftertaste, slightly bitter, reminds of almonds which is the very typical characteristic of this wine.

Winery Notes
Rodney Strong 2018 Chalk Hill Chardonnay boasts toasty vanilla and spice due to time spent in seasoned French oak barrels during fermentation. In the glass, the wine is both creamy and crisp, with flavors of golden pear, vanilla, Meyer lemon, and a hint of minerality on the long finish. Enjoy with soft cheeses, fresh crab, or roasted pork loin.

Winery Notes
An expressive burst of aromas of deep dark fruits lead into layered tones of lifted red fruit and a soft, luscious mid-palate. A juicy, vibrant entry with notes of mint, sarsaparilla, and fresh plum is interwoven with supple, textured tannins and acidity on the long, complex finish. This wine is lovely paired with grilled steak, sausage and peppers with cheesy polenta, or pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces such as baked rigatoni or pappardelle Bolognese. Semi-hard cheeses such as dry jack – our favorite is from a local Sonoma producer, Vella Cheese Company – and aged cheddar or gouda are great pairing suggestions for happy hour or a last minute get together.

Russian River Valley
Pinot Noir

COFFEE SPIRITS FEATURE

Yahara Bay Ancora Caffee Liqueur 375ml
$17.99 reg. $21.99
Yahara Bay Caffee liqueur is a blend of Ancora coffee–roasted locally in Wisconsin–and their own whiskey. Blending with whiskey is unusual in the liqueur world where blending with neutral grain spirit (vodka) is much more common. We take this to mean the liqueur will have complementary bread / grain flavor profile with the whiskey.

Trader Vic’s Kona Coffee Liqueur
$14.99 reg. $19.99
Cultivated in the Kona District of the “Big Island” of Hawaii, Kona coffee beans grown in this area are revered by coffee lovers more than any other. This liqueur captures the famous flavor of the beans for a smooth addition to any cocktail.

Journeyman Snaggle Tooth Coffee Liqueur
$27.99 reg. $29.99
Snaggle Tooth Coffee Liqueur is an enticing organic coffee liqueur using our un-aged Featherbone Bourbon as the base spirit. We soak the coffee grounds from Needmore Coffee Roasters, in the Bourbon base for 5 days, adding vanilla and cinnamon throughout that time. Then we cut it with water and organic sweetener. At 40-proof our Snaggle Tooth Coffee Liqueur is soft & velvety with a delightful balance of vanilla and coffee bean flavor. The face behind the Snaggle Tooth Coffee Liqueur is, Ruby, a Brussels Griffon Terrier with a lot of personality and a Snaggle Tooth to match.

Bittermens New Orleans Coffee Liqueur 375ml
$33.99 reg. $37.99
Our New Orleans Coffee Liqueur blends New Orleans-sourced coffee beans from Brazil with organic roasted French chicory root. We then add a touch of vanilla and a handful of cacao nibs, sweetening the final liqueur with a domestic Belgian-style candi syrup.

J. Rieger Caffe Amaro
$33.99 reg. $37.99
Our Caffè Amaro is a one of a kind take on coffee liqueurs. Amaro is a category of liqueur characterized by its bitter, herbal, and slightly sweet flavor which stems from the use of botanicals, herbs, and cane syrup. Caffè Amaro is a collaborative spirit with Kansas City-based coffee roasters, Thou Mayest who selects a single origin coffee roast that we utilize to contribute to the flavors the botanicals generate. Our Caffé Amaro spends a brief amount of time in a whiskey barrel resulting in a rich, bittersweet flavor that works great in cocktails or can be enjoyed by itself after a meal.

Breckenridge Espresso Flavored Vodka
$18.99 reg. $21.99
Full-bodied, roasted to perfection, local decaf espresso is cold infused with our vodka and natural flavors. Earthy, roasted espresso melds with pure maple syrup to create a pronounced vanilla finish that’s not excessively sweet. Reminiscent of a chocolate and maple-drizzled waffle and a warm cup of coffee.

OLD FORESTER FEATURE

Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon 86 Proof
$24.99 reg. $29.99
Created in 1870, Old Forester is the only bourbon continuously distilled and marketed by the founding family before, during and after Prohibition. At 86 proof, Old Forester delivers a genuine bourbon experience, with rich, full flavor and a smooth character that is ideal for sipping neat, on the rocks, with a splash of water or in a classic cocktail.

Old Forester Statesman Kentucky Straight Bourbon
$59.99 reg. $69.99
Inspired by the dynamic characters in the film,”Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” Old Forester Statesman offers bold flavor blended to a smooth 95 proof from hand-selected casks of our famed Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky from the warmest places in the warehouse. Because true character is only revealed after a little heat, the Statesman product offers an exceptional balance of heat and spice.

Old Forester 1870 Original Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
$49.99 reg. $54.99
1870 Original Batch echoes George Garvin Brown’s original batching process. Back then, Brown batched barrels obtained from three distilleries to create a consistent flavor profile. To emulate that process today, we also select barrels from three warehouses, each barrel originating from a different day of production, with a different entry proof and a different age profile. The three expressions of Old Forester are then batched together and minimally filtered to craft Old Forester 1870 Original Batch.

Old Forester 1897 Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon
$67.99 reg. $84.99
Old Forester 1897 Bottled in Bond is crafted to honor a watershed moment in bourbon history – the U.S. Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897. This expression follows the Bottled in Bond standards that whisky must be aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years, the product of one distillation season, one distiller and from one distillery and bottled at 100 Proof. The concept behind these regulations – the idea of ‘sealed in quality’ – was something Old Forester introduced in 1870, as America’s First Bottled Bourbon.

Old Forester 1910 Old Fine Kentucky Straight Bourbon
$59.99 reg. $69.99
On October 22nd. 1910, a fire on the bottling line halted production of Old Forester. Mature whisky ready to be bottled, instead was stored in a secondary barrel. What emerged was a delightful whisky, remarkable enough to become an entirely new expressions – Old Fine Whisky.Today mimicking this historic bottling, this unique expression of Old Forester has undergone a second barreling, granting it exceptional character, a smooth and sweet flavor and a clean, crisp finish. Entering the second barrel at a low 100 proof allows more of the sweet wood sugars to dissolve into the whiskey.

Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style Kentucky Straight Bourbon
$69.99 reg. $84.99
The Volstead Act of 1920 which initiated Prohibition in the USA granted permits to six distillers in Kentucky to continue to bottle bourbon for medicinal purposes. Through one of these permits, Old Forester continued to be produced as medicinal whiskey on Louisville’s famed Whiskey Row. It is the only bourbon continuously sold by the same company that has been available for sale before, during and after Prohibition.During this time, all whiskies had to be bottled at 100 Proof. With a barrel entry proof of 100, the “angel’s share” would have created a 115 proof whiskey after maturation. To pay homage to this era, Old Forester presents 1920 Prohibition Style Bourbon at 115 proof to represent the rich flavor profile this bourbon had nearly 100 years ago.

Regis Bouvier
Bourgogne En Montre Cul
Red Burgundy Wine
2017
$28.99 Reg. $32.99

Winery Notes
A small restaurant in Beaune long ago had a minimalist concept that I loved: two big communal tables, no menu, and no wine list. You showed up, and the chef, seated at the bar, would finish his glass of rouge and saunter off to the kitchen to cook whatever hunks of pork he happened to be offering that day and boil some potatoes. Dinner was just that, a massive portion of meat and potatoes served on a wooden slab, with a few lonely leaves of lettuce, perhaps to clear the conscience. The house rouge—bright, zippy, loads of fun—was none other than Bouvier’s En Montre Cul, priced so that you could order bottle after bottle, and such a pleasure to drink it guaranteed a good time. Looking back, the food wasn’t even that good, but it didn’t really matter. Sometimes the wine more than makes up for shortcomings in the kitchen.

Domaine Prieur-Brunet

2018
$44.99 Reg. $49.99

92 Points Robert Parker

Winery Notes
Exhibiting attractive aromas of cherries, raspberries, spices and orange rind, the 2018 Santenay 1er Cru Maladière (Domaine Prieur-Brunet) is medium to full-bodied, layered and complete, with succulent acids and a deep core of fruit. Frédéric Barnier notes that this parcel is planted with quite high-quality vine material.

Clarence Dillon
Clarendelle
Bordeaux
Inspired by Haut-Brion
2019
$15.99 Reg. $18.99

Winery Notes
A deep color and a soft bouquet of liquorice and blackcurrant. The wine has violet and slightly toasty nuances on the palate. The texture is velvety and the flavor altogether powerful and elegant. There is a wonderful refined balance between high-quality tannin, concentration, tension, and freshness. A lovely vintage for Clarendelle!

Chateau Lecuyer
Pomerol
2018
$56.99 Reg. $62.99

Winery Notes
Nice fruit forward Pomerol with loads of Merlot fruit and a delightful perfumed element to it. A rich & powerful wine with good balance with a bouquet of black current, mint and pretty earthy tones. It comes from a highly respected small seven-acre vineyard located in the heart of Pomerol. This wine is always a crowd pleaser and great for this price range. Great with a wide range of dishes including lamb chops, roasts and chicken.

What’s Anthony Been Drinking Lately?

What I drank this Sunday...

Tor Rock Syrah ‘Hommage Allan’ (Napa Valley)
2012 Vintage

$59.99

This is a dense and powerful wine, with full-blown, extracted blackberry, black licorice, loamy earth, bay leaf and dried herb flavors. Delivers notably extracted and chewy tannins, which went perfect with the bbq pork ribs I smoked for Mother’s Day.

Mastroberardino Nova Serra Greco di Tufo 2017

$19.99

This creamy, elegant white wine is light to medium-bodied and leads with a waft of almond blossom that carries to baked nectarine, stony mineral, ground ginger, and honey flavors on the palate. A perfect pairing for any seafood dish or sitting on the porch staring at your neighbors across the way.

Hartford Court Russian River Valley Chardonnay 2018

$27.99

I crushed this Chardonnay while FaceTiming with my friends. We all agreed that it offers subtle aromas of jasmine flower, citrus oil, green apple and pear. The elegant aromatics are complemented by fresh kiwi, lemon drop and Pippin apple flavors. The fruit-focused mid-palate is followed by subtle mineral notes and a hint of crystallized ginger in the finish. Quarantine has never seen a chardonnay like this before.

Massican Annia Napa Valley White Blend 2017

$41.99

A complex and inviting white, showing intricate nuances of roasted almond, matcha, honeysuckle and orange zest, mingling with supple, juicy Asian pear, tangerine and ripe melon notes. The smooth texture and a thread of acidity add to the appeal. Ribolla Gialla, Tocai Friulano and Chardonnay. Watch out! You’re going to be the hit of your front yard barbecue with this wine!

Trimbach Riesling Alsace 2017

$22.99

A sleek, minerally white, with well-cut acidity defining flavors of white peach, pine and preserved lemon, showing a rich hint of passion fruit coulis. Fine and creamy, offering a lasting finish. Makes me want to be quarantined in Alsace with plateful of sweetbreads.

Thanksgiving Day Beer

You’d be hard-pressed to find a beer better suited for the Thanksgiving Day table than a Belgian-style saison. A saison’s nuanced complexity lends itself well to a wide variety flavors and textures while its effervescence helps cleanse the palate from all the decadent dishes associated with a holiday feast.

Below are some of our current and long-standing favorites:

  • Brasserie Dupont Vieille Provision
Iconic in its own right, Dupont Saison set the standard for Saison as we know it today: coppery blonde with subtle cracked peppercorn driven by their house yeast strain, hints of grass and earth from noble hop varietals, capped by a mousse-like foam from their ritualistic bottle conditioning process. (4pk & 750ml)
  • Brasserie Blaugies Darbyste
From a small, family-run farmhouse brewery in Southern Belgium, Blaugies turns out some really incredible rustic saisons using a yeast strain borrowed from Dupont. Darbyste utilizes a high proportion of wheat for a unique texture and fermented with fig juice for just a touch of fruity tartness. (375ml)
  • White Rooster Lieu et Heure (Time and Place)
This upstart farmhouse brewery from Sparta, IL has been turning out some of the most memorable beers I’ve had this year. Lieu et Heure sets itself apart from the above saisons in that the resulting beer is blended from multiple batches of saison aged 16-24 months in French wine barrels. Lieu et Heure possesses a pleasant, refreshing tartness with just enough wild funk to keep you guessing. (750ml)

Bonus Turkey Day Beers!

  • Prairie Street x Crust & Crumbles ‘Bread Beer’
Rockford’s own Prairie Street Brewing and Crust & Crumbles Bakery teamed up to bring you a dark mild ale brewed with loaves of C&C’s rustic country white sourdough. Quite literally liquid bread, you can have your stuffing and drink it too! (500ml)
  • Metropolitan Arc Welder Dunkel Rye
A rich, malt-driven Bavarian-style dark lager with a proportion of rye lending a spicy, toasty, nutty depth. One of my all time favorite Metropolitan beers! (6pk)
  • Spiteful IPA
A straight forward American IPA built around Citra & Amarillo hops. Drinkable, balanced, and the perfect hoppy compliment to any feast! (6pk can)
  • Odell 180 Shilling
A strong Scottish-style ale hailing from the front range of the Rocky Mountains. This amped up version of Odell’s flagship 90 Shilling took a quick dip in an oak barrel and displays notes of toffee, plum, vanilla, and dried cherry with just a lick of boozy warmth. A heady beer equally deserving of a main course pairing or a side kick with dessert. (12oz bottle)
  • The Bruery Vermont Sticky Maple
An Imperial Stout aged in bourbon barrels with Vermont maple syrup added. Clocking in at 11.3% abv, if this beer doesn’t scream dessert (or Uncle Bruce belligerently flipping over the Monopoly board in frustration during family game time) I don’t know what would. (16oz can)
  • Snowdrift Red Cider
This brilliant red cider gets its natural color from a specific red-fleshed varietal of apple a few generations removed from their native ancestors in the hills of Kazakhstan. Bright acidity with flavors of cranberries, watermelon, rhubarb and strawberries makes for a welcome pairing with Thanksgiving dinner or dessert. “Very nice!” (500ml)
