I guess it all started back in 1982, that’s when I had my first glass of wine. I remember the sheer muscle, the dark plush layers of warmed fig, currant preserves and charcoal lined with extra notes of roasted vanilla, espresso and bittersweet cocoa. The tannins were ever-so-slightly drying on the finish. It was a wonderfully delicious glass of wine. I drank it as fast as any 5 year old could. Everyone was shocked and amazed when I said “it’s pretty good dad!”
Needless to say I slept very well that night. Fast forward 34 years and I am the proud owner of a very successful wine shop in the fifth most dangerous city in the United States.
