With its tropical weather, pristine white sand beaches and deep blue water, the paradise-like Ishigaki Island lies off the coast of Okinawa in the Ryukyu Island chain. Here the distillers of Yaesen Shuzo have worked to handcraft local spirits since 1955 making it a perfect distillery to meld the flavors of Okinawa with the tradition of Whisky. Barrels of Virgin American Oak are charred and laid down for a minimum of 3 years while the tropical air works to mature the Whisky providing it the smoothness, deep copper color and vintage-like complexity beyond that of its years.
