English-style barleywine first aged for 16 months in a Blanton's Bourbon barrel, and an additional 16 months in our exclusive store pick Coppercraft 9 Year Bourbon barrel.
In early 2023, we visited Stray's barrel warehouse and tasted through a variety of barrel aged imperial stouts and barleywines, eventually landing on a barleywine that had spent its life in a Blanton's barrel. We gave Stray the empty bourbon barrel sent to us when our Coppercraft 9 Year store pick was packaged, and Stray then transferred the barleywine into that barrel for an additional 16 months.
